Chilliwack Cousin

I finally got to meet my famous cousin Bill Henderson, musician extraordinaire. Bill used to be in the Vancouver rock band Chilliwack, active 1970-88; and the Collectors. I've met him 3 times now. Most recently at Brock Tully's World Kindness Concert. Thanks Bill for taking the time to say a nice hello!

Script Consultant...

A Raving Fan:

'Hey, you're great, Ms. Office Nanny! You did a complete script edit on my horror screenplay and just in time for Halloween. Your suggestions for my film script were amazing and I can't thank you enuf. You saw things I never could have and suggested important changes on structure, scenes, characters, format, etc. You certainly know your stuff. Thanks again!" - Steve S., Hollywood North

Hi Marilyn,
It was a delight to work with you! I'll miss our little chatty calls. Thanks so much for all the momentum you helped us create. It takes a lot of hands and hearts to get the job done and you have such willing hands and a lovely heart.

A Raving Reference!

Marilyn (my 'Office Nanny' or personal assistant) takes an idea, runs with it, and then completes the job. She is a wonderful example of follow-through. Marilyn has the ability to tackle the big stuff and also the detailed small stuff, which is often the daunting part of any project. For our music group AUGUST, Marilyn has created and organized postcards, buttons, posters; written Press Releases and organized ongoing Media and Public Relations; kept our Fans notified by creating a Blog of upcoming and ongoing performances; and a merchandizing table all in an extremely professional manner, and on a shoestring budget! Marilyn is creative, caring and extraordinarily committed – a huge asset to any company.

Busy Real Estate Office

Hello!
I'm now at a busy real estate office 2 days a week... With 125 Realtors and a switchboard that looks like an electronic gizmo from outer space; it's fun being a Receptionist in a buzzing office. The rest of the week I'm here an' there at other locations (mostly for film-related companies), but there's always time to enjoy my time off, which usually means sitting at the beach with my laptop emailing the world!
Cheers,
MJM - Your "in-a-pinch" Office Nanny

QUICK BIZ TIP

STRENGTHEN SELF-PROMOTION WITH A TAGLINE

Quick, tell me which companies you associate with these slogans (answers below):

(1) "Choice of a new generation."
(2) "Think different."
(3) "Because we're #2, we try harder."

These slogans are known as "taglines."

A tagline is a sound bite that conveys your big promise to potential clients.

To come up with a brief, catchy tagline for your freelance business, start by thinking about the service you provide. Then, using a few words, describe what you can do for your client.

Your tagline will be a good example for your clients. When they see that you can get your own message across in a compelling way, they'll know that you can do the same for them.

Develop your tagline. Add it to all your promotional material.

Do You Need An Office Nanny?

Looking for an Office Nanny? -- Here I am!

I either work off-site or in-office.
North Vancouver or Greater Vancouver Area.
Although, I have been known to travel: Have Laptop Will Travel.

As an Office Nanny I'm there for an emergency call-in. If you have a staff that gets overloaded, needs help with seasonal projects, I am a phone call away. I work as a confidential office worker and can be hired for two or four days a week doing anything office related. I even do dishes and clean windows!

As a Virtual Assistant or VA I work off-site with my own equipment as an independent contractor. I provide technical or creative services for clients on a contractual basis for short- or long-term projects. Technology enables me to communicate with my clients by using e-mail, instant messaging, diskette transfer, overnight mail, phone and fax.

Email me for a Resume.

Kind regards,

MJMilne
